Fazer Joins the Moomin 80 Celebrations

Fazer celebrates 80 years of Moomin with a special collaboration between Fazer and Moomin Arabia – a limited-edition gift box that includes two collectible items: a Karl Fazer milk chocolate bar in a Moomin-themed wrapper and a commemorative Moomin bowl from Moomin Arabia.

Almost 90 years of shared history

Tove Jansson’s cooperation with the Finnish candy manufacturer Fazer started eight years before the first Moomin story was published, in 1937. She did paintings and wallpapers for the hotel Kalastajatorppa in Helsinki, which was, back then, owned by Fazer.

The legend says that Jansson lived in the hotel for one summer but couldn’t afford the room, so she paid with her art instead. The cooperation continued with drawing advertisements and illustrating packages.

Fazer in ‘Moomins and the Great Flood’

The first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood, was published in 1945 and already showcased Tove Jansson’s connection to Fazer – its illustrations include one with Fazer’s chocolate tablet.

Fazer’s first Moomin candies came for sale in 1957. The first offering consisted of four different bags of candy and some pastilles, all of which were decorated with pictures of popular characters.

Today, Fazer manufactures a wide range of Moomin products, including biscuits, chewing gum, and pastilles.

Moomin 80 edition of Fazer Blue

The legendary Karl Fazer milk chocolate, Fazer Blue, is now available in a Moomin-inspired wrapper. The illustration of Moomintroll and Moominmamma walking hand in hand is from the first Moomin story, The Moomins and the Great Flood.

The chocolate tablet in the anniversary wrapper will be available for a limited time, from November to December 2025.

Gift box with Moomin Arabia bowl

The Karl Fazer milk chocolate tablet is also sold as part of a delightful gift box, which includes a beautiful blue-toned Moomin Arabia bowl decorated with Tove Jansson’s illustrations from The Moomins and the Great Flood.

The gift set is now available in the Moomin Shop online store and selected stores, Fazer Store, Fazer Cafe on Kluuvikatu, Fazer Experience Visitor Centre, and Moomin Arabia stores.
