Carl & Karin Larsson by Lindex

Background

Lindex is one of Europe’s leading fashion companies with approximately 440 stores in 18 markets. Lindex decided to create a summer collection that would honor their Swedish heritage, and therefore, they chose to collaborate with the works of Carl & Karin Larsson.

Swedish artists Karin and Carl Larsson were active during the late 19th century and their artistry worked in strong symbiosis. Karin’s creative power and artistic taste is a very important component in Carl’s art. The bold interior decoration, the modern textiles, the rustic furniture – most of which she designed herself. Karin created the home that Carl depicted and together they are behind motifs that have come to represent an image of Sweden and are cherished across the world.

The Collaboration

For this collection Lindex designed classic summer pieces for kids, baby and women that all match, also known as a “mini-me” collection. The print they used is called De Mina, originally painted by Carl Larsson and used for the book “Åt solsidan” that was first published in 1910. The pieces come in dusty blue, yellow and coral, are made in soft organic cotton and are GOTS certified.

“Karin and Carl Larsson were pioneers of their time and their artistic expression has made a mark in the Swedish cultural heritage. We are proud of our Swedish heritage at Lindex and how it defines our focus on design, quality and sustainability. So, it felt natural for us to design a summer collection with a strong connection to the creative home of Karin and Carl” said Inger Lundqvist, Design & Buying Manager Kidswear at Lindex.
