Design House Stockholm – Colour Accent, inspired by Karin & Carl Larsson

For Design House Stockholm, it all started with an idea to work with smaller home products, like ceramic mugs and candle holders in wood. But it developed into an idea to work with the garden colors from the Carl & Karin Larsson estate together with young designers and modern furniture pieces.

The Color Accent line was officially launched at Stockholm Furniture Fair 2020

The Collaboration

Design House Stockholm chose nine objects from its existing collection of accessory furniture pieces and adorned them with four bold colors inspired by Karin Larsson, creating the line ‘Color Accent’.

Design House Stockholm’s Color Accent collection features accessory furniture that embodies straightforward and functional simplicity, honoring the creativity of the Larsson family. The oak is treated with a Japanese glaze applied four times, ensuring a rich and smooth finish.

The selected designers, who have each chosen their favorite color, are Lina Nordqvist (Family Chair), Gunilla Allard (Exit Trolley), Karl Malmvall (Step Ladder), Chuck Mack (Arco Sidetable), Mathieu Gustafsson (Air Cabinet), and Atelier 2+ (Greenhouse).

Results

‘Color Accent’ has been a Design House Stockholm line for many years after launching. The collaboration also resulted in a nomination for Best Licensed Product – Home Décor in the 2021 Licensing Excellence Awards.
