Pluto Design’s new interior decorations inspired by classic Stig Lindberg patterns
In a celebration of timeless design, Pluto Design presents its latest collaboration, Stig L By Pluto Design. The Pluto Design team has with great passion created a collection that is inspired by the iconic patterns of Stig Lindberg, with a focus on metal and brass products.
“We are incredibly happy and proud to be able to offer this collection to our customers”, says Björn Stille, CEO at Pluto Design. “Stig L by Pluto Design is the result of our passionate work and our desire to spread joy to every home all over the world.”
Pluto Design is a Swedish company that designs, produces and sells interior decorations and gift products to retailers in 35 countries around the world. Pluto’s creative team, the designers Lotta Ahnström and Amanda Olzon, were delighted to be able to work with Stig Lindberg’s treasure of designs.
“We started by botanizing in the book about Stig Lindberg to get inspiration and background facts. Stig Lindberg is a personal favorite of mine, to interpret him feels incredible.” Ahnström says.
“We both wanted to work with his famous patterns Berså and Salix, but also something more unknown. Stig’s Gingerbread series from the 70s felt right for us as we work a lot with Christmas products, and they are so pretty!” Olzon adds.
In the 1970s Stig Lindberg designed a Christmas series called “Pepparkaksserien” (The Gingerbread series) for Gustavsberg’s studio. In Lindberg’s original series, the relief sculptures were made of earthenware, but in Pluto Design’s versions the quirky figurines are made of brass as hanging decorations – and as actual gingerbread cookie cutters!
Reinterpreting the Berså and Salix patterns
The Berså pattern that Stig Lindberg and his team developed during Lindberg’s time at Gustavsberg’s porcelain factory is considered a Swedish design icon today. Pluto Design has reinterpreted the stylized green leaves into new products, such as an angel chime, a fragranced candle, tea strainer, a hanging decoration, and a jute mat.
“I like the graphic feel of the Salix pattern, so the angel chime Salix will spin nicely at my house!” Designer Lotta Ahnström says.
The collection Stig L By Pluto Design is now available at Pluto’s online shop and Pluto retailers such as Nordic Nest, Cervera and Svenssons.
