Lasse and Maja (Jerry and Maya) are two classmates who run a small, but successful detective agency together. They help the police chief in the little town Valleby to solve tricky cases. The author Martin Widmark and illustrator Helena Willis have published numerous books about the adventurous couple. The books have also become a Christmas calendar for SVT, feature films for cinema and a large exhibition at Junibacken.

Martin Widmark
& Helena Willis
Martin Widmark is the author behind LasseMaja’s Detektivbyrå (The JerryMaya Detective Agency). He used to work as a teacher for 20 years and was the initiator of the project A Reading Class which was launched in 2012, together with several publishers and the Junibacken Foundation. Martin helped improve the reading comprehension in Sweden with his involvement.
Helena Willis is an illustrator/author. Of all the characters she created, the most famous are Lasse and Maja. Willis has a four year long education within design and also has experience with costume design. The collaboration with Martin Widmark started in 2002 when the first titles of The JerryMaya Detective Agency were released.

The JerryMaya Comics
The first issue of the comic book LasseMajas Detektivbyrå came out on January 23, 2020. The magazine contains newly written stories where the reader can follow Lasse and Maja as they solve new mysteries in Valleby.
The publication is scheduled for 6 issues per year and the magazine are sold both in-store and as a subscription title.
Rights & Brands sells materials for the artwork used in the magazines which can be used to create omnibus releases.
Film & TV
There are 8 films about JerryMaya. The latest, “The Lost Mascot,” premiered in October 2024 and features Mario Mustafa, Elma Säterhagen-Lekander, Henrik Hjelt, and Cissi Fors.
A TV series was also made based on the Jerry Maya books. Seasons 1 and 2 are now streaming on TV4 Play.
App Game by Gro Play
An app game developed by the game studio Gro Play is available on the App Store and Google Play. The game is called “The JerryMaya Detective Agency” (LasseMajas Detektivbyrå) and is available for free download on iPhone and Android phones. In the game you may play as both as Jerry and Maya, explore the town of Valleby and meet the eccentric residents who need your help solving different mysteries.
The artwork and stories in the game are all based on the book series The Whodunit Agency, created by Martin Widmark and Helena Willis. Solve mysteries using your detective skills by puzzles and using teamwork to navigate tricky platforming levels.
The game is updated frequently. The city changes its appearance after seasons – snow and Christmas decorations during winter, easter elements during spring etc. Swedish, English, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Polish versions are avalable.
