Tell Me Antonio

By Sanna Pelliccioni

My grandfather hasn't always lived here in Finland. His childhood home was in Chile. My grandfather is Antonio, who plays the guitar and hasn't forgotten his home, his lemon trees, and his music.

This poignant picture book is based on memories shared by my grandfather, who fled Chile, as he recalls his time in his childhood homeland as a political dissident and prisoner. It also explores how the power of music carried him through difficulties both in Chile and in his new homeland, Finland.

The book is based on the experiences of Alfonso Padillas, who moved to Finland and recounted them to illustrator and author Sanna Pelliccioni.
