The Moomins and the Great Flood (80th Anniversary edition)
By Tove Jansson
The first story about the Moomins was originally published in 1945. This is the tale about Moominmamma and Moomintroll’s search for the missing Moominpappa and how the family found their way to Moominvalley.
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the first Moomin book and the start of all the great Moomin adventures, Moomin Characters and Rights & Brands launched the Moomin 80 campaign on 24th October 2024. The central theme of the book, the sense of belonging, is the key to the campaign and the values of inclusiveness, kindness, family and community are lifted from the original story.
An anniversary edition of The Moomins and the Great Flood with a foreword by Frank Cottrell Boyce and additional illustrated material is the flagship title of the anniversary publishing programme. Other titles, including a pop-up book The Moomins Find a Home, will be available through Rights & Brands and our publishing partners.
The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is the charity partner for Moomin 80.
In Moominvalley, the door is always open.
