Chop Chop is a White Ravens 2025

The annual “The White Ravens” recommendation list has been presented, and we are thrilled to share that Linda Bondestam’s picture book, Chop Chop, The Story of a Busy Robot (Chop Chop. En tapper jordbos berättelse) was included in the prestigious  White Ravens Catalogue 2025.

This year’s White Ravens edition includes more than 215 notable new children’s and young adult books in 49 languages from 63 countries—outstanding new releases from the international children’s and youth book production, selected by children’s literature experts at the International Youth Library. The “White Ravens” catalogue is a treasure trove of literary discoveries, featuring the most significant books for young readers published worldwide in the previous year, serving as a compass through the vast children’s book market for field experts and anyone with an interest in international children’s books.

Quote from annotation:

“And yet, Chop Chop wouldn’t be Chop Chop if he didn’t have an idea about how to make the world a better place again. In Chop Chop Linda Bondestam links dystopia and utopia in a surprising way. The obsession with technology and dehumanisation is portrayed with clarity and a certain disillusionment, yet the deeply human (and undeniably cute!) little robot manages to rise above the apocalyptic scenario. The tongue-in-cheek illustrations are full of humour, without ever downplaying the seriousness of the situation.”

This week, the IYL team will present some books from “The White Ravens 2025” list, including their personal favourites, at the Frankfurt Book Fair. All the White Ravens 2025 books will be on display at the International Youth Library’s stand at the 2026 Bologna Children’s Book Fair. The White Ravens 2025 catalogue can be viewed here.

Chop Chop will be on display at Rights Brands’ stand (Hall 4.1, stand B14) at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Our warmest congratulations to Linda Bondestam and all other authors and illustrators for this recognition!
