Happy Socks x The Beatles

Background

It was back in 2017 that Rights & Brands (previously Bulls Licensing) started the collaboration with Happy Socks to produce a collection commemorating The Beatles’ iconic animated film Yellow Submarine. Happy Socks had previously created other collections with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Miike Snow, and Happy Socks’ Creative Director, Viktor Tell, had a personal connection to Yellow Submarine: “We are very satisfied with the collaboration and the collection. It’s also extra special to me personally because my dad co-created the film in 1968” he said when the collection launched in 2017.

The first The Beatles collection by Happy Socks was launched in 2017.

Apparel

The first The Beatles collection by Happy Socks was launched in 2017 and since then the limited-edition collections have continued to roll out. In 2022, Happy Socks also introduced an advent calendar, featuring 24 colorful The Beatles socks.

The Collaboration

The Beatles have become a returning special edition collection for Happy Socks. The Happy Socks designers use artwork from both Yellow Submarine and The Beatles’ pop art and iconography to create colorful, creative designs in the typical Happy Socks style. While all Happy Socks are still designed in the Stockholm-based atelier, they are now sold in over 95 countries through Happy Socks concept stores, at selected retailers, and via happysocks.com.

Results

All of the collections have been hugely popular and gathered a lot of press in magazines such as HypebeastVariety, Café MagazineLicense Global, and Rolling Stone.
