The French publisher Robert Laffont buys the debut novel The Whale Called Goliath by Cristina Sandu
The French translation rights for the debut novel The Whale Called Goliath, nominated last year for Finlandia Prize, have been sold to the established French publisher ditions Robert Laffont.
The novel is written by the 28-year-old, half-Finnish, half-Romainian author Cristina Sandu who currently lives in the UK.
With the French publisher’s words: “ Cristina Sandus writing is delicate, poetic and authentic. She writes beautifully about nostalgia, memories and love.
Her characters and stories enable her to discuss past and current issues but also more personal matters, all set against a historical background. It makes the novel both intimate and universal.
