Messi and Mystery Cat: Cat Race

By Ninka Reittu

When the Katsenbergs family speeds off to their summer holidays, you can expect quite a cat race…

The summer holidays are here. Messi and the cat family pack the car and drive off for a holiday trip. To the delight of everyone, a hitch-hiker joins the group: it’s Mystery the cat, Messi’s mysterious friend.

The cats come across all sorts of travellers during their trip: the fox family’s classic American car has skidded into a swamp, the farmer’s trailer has thrown a somersault, builders and their van are entirely lost, and a hot air balloonist would like some company on his own adventures.
Messi, Mystery the cat and the others try to help as best they can. And when the cats themselves land in trouble with their car, help from their new friends will be much needed.

Reviews

“Ninka Reittu’s book is a tremendously handsome and fast-paced adventure book, and I wish this first-time author all good fortune! The book clearly lays the groundwork for continuing adventures, and my first grader and I await them eagerly. It was a real treat to read some fresh and different new children’s literature for a change that does not let the reader off easily.”

“The book brings to mind Richard Scarry’s picture books bursting with happenings as well as the Viiru and Pesonen stories. Hayao Miyazaki’s Totoro has also clearly inspired the creator.”
