Leveraging over 30 years of experience and strongly backed by the capital participation of the Moomin rights owners, Rights & Brands Japan continues to grow the business year on year by providing valuable services for its clients as well as delighting generations of Moomin lovers and further expanding the fanbase in Japan.
Rights & Brands Japan is the sole licensing agent in Japan for the popular Nordic character brand “Moomin” (excluding translations/publication of books, theme park operation and the theatrical business). Rights & Brands Japan is also the Japanese distributor of the award-winning 3D animated TV series “Moominvalley”.
The Moomin licensing business in Japan originated within the character licensing division of Tuttle-Mori Agency which has been Moomin`s copyright agent since 1989. Rights and Brands Japan was established in 2018 as a joint venture by Tuttle-Mori Agency, Moomin Monogatari Ltd. (the operator of Moominvalley Park in Hanno City, Saitama) and Moomin Characters Oy Ltd. (the owner of all Moomin’s rights). In 2021, Rights & Brands Licensing AB (Moomin`s global master agent) became an investor in Rights & Brands Japan with board representation.
